Juniors Soccer Program Professionally Run

"The ALBION SC program has really built up an incredible foundation in the ALBION Juniors and put such a strong emphasis on developing the Junior player starting with the 3 year old and really fostering the proper environment for a young player to fall in love with the game and gain top level coaching. The ALBION Junior program extends to 14 years old and serves as the recreational program for players that are not ready to make the jump to competitive soccer."

Noah Gins, CEO ALBION SC

What to look for in a Juniors Soccer Program

When searching for a developmental program for your player, one of the most critical components is finding an organization with a sound philosophy for developing technical and tactical skills that are age appropriate. It is also important to find a coaching staff that has the knowledge and expertise to work with the younger player. An appropriate training program that places your player in a training environment that ensures fun and proper fundamental development is also very important.

Our Recreational Program

ALBION Juniors (formerly Tigard Youth Soccer) is the official recreational program for ALBION SC Portland. ALBION Juniors program serves as an introductory path for Kindergarten to high school aged soccer players. We are committed to providing a fun, educational, and progressive experience for your youth soccer players. Not only are we committed to our youth players, but we also have a wonderful comprehensive coaching education curriculum and mentorship program specifically for ALBION Juniors. There are no tryouts for ALBION Juniors. It is recommended for all girls and boys, grades K-12, who have the desire to learn and grow through the game of soccer.

Our ALBION Juniors Players will learn:

  • SOCIAL: Grasp essential life lessons such as respecting their teammates and coaches, the significance of listening during instruction, and the importance of teamwork.
  • PHYSICAL: Develop motor skills, balance, flexibility, and agility.
  • PSYCHOLOGICAL: Be motivated and inspired by soccer through this encouraging and fun environment.
  • TECHNICAL: Understand the fundamental rules of the sport

Teams are divided by grade in school and are coached by volunteer coaches. We offer a Fall and a Spring league. Our recreational program is played locally, in and around the Tigard area. In the fall, teams will practice twice a week in August. Teams will need to transition to once a week once the sun starts setting earlier. In the spring teams will only practice once a week for the duration of the season due to limited field space. Games will be on Saturdays. Practice days and times are selected by our volunteer coaches once teams have been formed. Players must have an ALBION Juniors uniform kit which available for purchase locally. All players must wear their ALBION Juniors training kit to each training session. No need to repurchase the kit each year; just replace as kids grow.

Spring 2024

Practices will start the week of April 1, 2024 for our spring 2024 league. Games will start on April 6th and will run through May 18th. Players should have their team assignment by March 18th and their practice schedule by March 22nd. Registration will close on February 23, 2024.

**Practice days and times are dependent on which team your player is placed. If your player's team does not have an assigned coach, they will not have a practice time assigned until a parent volunteers to coach.

Volunteer Coaches

We cannot run this program without our wonderful volunteer coaches. Thank you to all of you that have volunteered your time and energy to the children in our community. If you are interested in volunteering to coach please fill out the "Volunteer" section of the registration form when registering your player.

Coaching and Friend Requests

Players may request to play with their friends and/or request to be on a certain coach's team at the time of registration. Please make sure your requests are as thorough as possible at the time of registration. While we do our best to honor these requests, they are NOT guaranteed. We are unable to take individual requests via email or over the phone as they are extremely hard to track this way.

Uniforms

Uniforms are NOT purchased at the time of registration. We ask for sizing so we have a better idea of what we have to have on hand for families. As we approach the start of games we will be in touch with families letting them know when and where they will be able to purchase their uniform. This is usually a week or two before games start. Once you have the kit you do not need to repurchase a new kit each season but can purchase additional items should a player outgrow or lose an item.

The uniform kit is $60 and includes:

  • 2 game jerseys - Red and Blue
  • 1 training shirt
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 1 pair of socks

Cost

$105 - Kinder-2nd Grade

$125 - 3rd-4th Grade

$145 - 5th -12th Grade

There will be a late fee for any registration after the registration close date of $25
